The easygoing atmosphere keeps things stress-free while still introducing you to incredible underwater views. It’s a place full of contrasts. One minute, you’re over hard coral reefs buzzing with angelfish, and the next, you’re surrounded by soft coral gardens swaying in the current. And for those who enjoy macro photography, Koh Tao also teems with little creatures like nudibranchs and pipefish, just waiting to be spotted if you slow down and look closely.

Then there’s Phuket, which often gets overshadowed by nearby islands but totally holds its own. Sites like Shark Point or the King Cruiser Wreck offer a mix of subtle thrill and stunning beauty. On one of my dives, I spotted leopard sharks resting on the sand, totally unfazed by my presence. Wreck dives near Phuket also bring a sense of history to your adventure, with schools of snapper weaving through the beams.
