Choosing To Visit An Ethical Animal Attraction In Thailand
Thailand once had a bad reputation for the way some of its animal attractions operated, and thankfully there have been many changes in the tourism industry over the last decade or so. The power of the internet has forced animal attractions to treat their charges ethically or face the wrath of tourists who will refrain from visiting them. There are now plenty of ethical places where you can see the indigenous wildlife of Thailand ethically, and some of these are listed below.
Elephant Sanctuaries
As the national animal of Thailand is the elephant, it is no surprise that there are plenty of places to see and interact with these beautiful animals. When looking for an elephant conservation center, Thailand has plenty throughout the country that you can visit. You will not be able to ride the elephants, but many parks will allow you to feed and bathe the animals, which is much more fun anyway.
Visit The Amazing Gibbons
You can also find various animal sanctuaries that look after the highly endangered gibbon in Thailand, and these beautiful primates are worth a visit if you get the chance. You can also spot them in the wild if you are lucky, but they are very elusive, and visiting them in a sanctuary that works to protect them can be beneficial for the species as a whole. They have a distinctive call, and when you observe them, they can be very playful like other primates.
Looking After Animals On Koh Lanta
If you visit the island of Koh Lanta, you can visit Lanta Animal Welfare on the island and help support their excellent efforts to look after wildlife on the island. You may not see some of the rare and endangered species here, but you can donate to them to keep the sanctuary operating, and you can play with a lot of the dogs and cats you find here.
The Soi Dog Foundation In Phuket
When you are in Phuket, if you love dogs, you may wish to visit the Soi Dog Foundation, which looks after stray cats and dogs. Dog lovers will enjoy a visit here, but they may end up wanting to take a few of their furry friend’s home with them. The foundation works to help neuter stray animals, find them new homes when they can, and look after their basic needs. You can also donate to the foundation to help them stay open and provide their services to Phuket animals, which they do free of charge, with most of the people there being volunteers.
